As owner and president, Kathleen M. DeMatthew, CPA leads the firm, overseeing all areas of the practice. Kathleen graduated cum laude in Accounting and Finance with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1985. Kathleen worked for several years as a Retail Accountant and Accounting Supervisor for Roundy’s Inc., where she handled the accounting and tax for over 18 stores. Kathleen was then hired as the Accounting Manager for the American Society for Quality Control (ASQC), a 30 million dollar non-profit organization with its world headquarters in Milwaukee, WI. At this time Kathleen also received her Certified Public Accounting accreditation. Kathleen reported directly to the Director of Finance and was responsible for all accounting functions. These functions included all established accounting duties in addition to budgeting, training of 250 volunteer treasurers worldwide, audit oversight, tax analysis, utilizing major association software programs (JD Edwards non-profit business software), onsite yearly accounting for a major convention, resolving a 6 month backlog in transaction processing, managing over $5 million in reserve funds, and providing process analysis and team management for quality process improvements. Kathleen’s experience and knowledge of headquarters level accounting, audit preparation, and tax experience for large retail and non-profit organizations, in addition to more than a decade of experience building a public accounting practice, has proven instrumental to the success of many of our clients. DAS client base currently exceeds $60 million in sales and encompasses the communication services, construction, retail, specialty foods, restaurant, technology, manufacturing, equipment repair, distribution, land development, inspection, landscaping, child-care, and non-profit sectors. Kathleen brings her entrepreneurial expertise to entity formation and start-up consulting, financial software analysis and set-up, strategic tax solutions, and complete accounting service experience to nearly 100 firms and several hundred individuals. Kathleen having utilized QuickBooks accounting software for the last 10 years is a QuickBooks Pro Professional Advisor with expert knowledge of all areas of the software. She will typically handle conversion of set-up of a client in QuickBooks software for intense applications. Kathy also reviews all work produced by the firm to assure the highest level of knowledge and accuracy. Member: AICPA, St. Richard Finance Committee.
